4.5.6.1 The Project office

Use

First, before a project can be put into operation using the WinSwitch Runtime Program it hasto be edited using the WinSwitch Editor. Technically a project consists of several projectsections. The dialog Project office serves for creating new ranges of project sections as Adresslists or maybe pictures as well as calling already existing ones in order to change them and theirsettings. The Project office shows you all project sections belonging to the actually loaded project.

Call the Project office

Project office will be called by mouseclick in the „Show“ menue. Through this the dialog Projectoffice will be faded in or faded out on your editor screen. The dialog will be displayed only if aproject is loaded.

Page 27: ws2c

15

To maintain clarity on your editor surface the window can be put anywhere on your screen. Therefore you have to click the blue bar with your left mousebutton, hold the button pressed anddraw the window to any position you want it to be.

Edit

The Project office has got 4 icons to call the functions:

open opens a selected project section

add adds a new range to a project section, f.i. a new picture or a new site

remove removes a selected project section

Options opens the dialog of a selected project section in order to change settings

4.5.6.1.1 The Addresslist

Use

The Addresslist contains an itemization of the whole EIB-Addresslist. Additionally to the EIB-used main groups [1...15] you’ll find an internal address-range from 16 to 31. These addressesfrom 16 to 31 serve for internal data exchange between the elements without loading the EIB.

The complete list [1....31) serves for addressing the elements in the index Objects in theElement inspector. Depending on your default settings the addresses will be described two-digit(main group and sub group) or three- digit (main group, middle group and sub group). Moreover the addresses can be described as a matrix or as a table.

In WinSwitch Classic you’ll find just one project section Addresslist.

Page 28: ws2c

16

Call the addresslist

The addresslist can be called using the dialog Project office. When creating a new project you have to create a new addresslist too.

To create a new list you have to click Addresslist with left mousebutton. After clicking the -icon the following dialog opens:

Within this dialog you can do the settings now. The settings base on the default settings for theaddresslists.

Addressform sets type of addressform: two- digit or three- digit (twolines/ three lines) address

Name names the addresslist

Save undef. Value saves undefined values; options :yes / no ; helps you toidentify faults in programming)

Gridform Matrix- or table- description (table description gives you abetter view on inserted comments; matrix- descriptionshows you all addresses at once and so allows a fasterallocation)

All settings made in this dialog are valid for the addresslist of the specific project.

You can change these settings by clicking the addresslist and the - icon. Through this thedialog Option for Address management opens again.

If you want to delete the addresslist you have to select the addresslist in the Project office dialog

and click the - icon. Addresslist will be deleted after that.

Page 29: ws2c

17

Linking addresses with elements

To link the elements with their corresponding addresses the matrix- description should be usedbecause it’s more suitable for this purpose.

Linking and allocating addresses with elements and objects is done in the Element inspectordialog using the index „Objects“ .Both dialogs have to be opened and in the Element inspector index Objects has to be selected. Now you have to select the object f.i. Switch Object.

First you have to select main group or middle group from the pulldownmenue shown in thedialog Address list. Then you have to click (left mousebutton) on the wanted address in thematrix and keeping the mousebutton pressed you may now draw the address to the object lineselected in the Element inspector. While drawing the mouse pointer becomes a circle with a linecrossed

As soon as you reach the according line in the Element inspector the mouse pointer becomesan arrow again with an rectangle trailed.

If you release left mousebutton now the address is linked to the element.

If addresses are already known you may enter them directly into the selected line as well.

Each element can be linked to max 10 addresses now.

Page 30: ws2c

18

For a better view of the addresses you may add a short comment to each address. Therefore

you doubleclick the address in the matrix or click the -icon. Dialog Mark for...opens :

Now you may enter your comments for main group, middle group and sub group. At the sametime you may determine if this address should be initialized when the program

If you use table- description the sub groups will be called by - and -icons in the editorssymbol bar.

The comment may be entered directly after clicking (left mousebutton) the wanted line. You maydetermine here as well if this address should be initialized when the program starts.

Alternatively the dialog can be opened by using the -icon in the symbol bar.

Page 31: ws2c

19

Hints:

- Address initializationAddresses used in the elements and/ or in the address-list may be set „initialize“.In this case WinSwitch will send a corresponding request- telegram when program starts. Youmay select if WinSwitch shall execute an initialization phase after starting. If the marker is set the wanted request- telegramms will be sent.If the marker is not set there will be sent nor initialization- telegrams nor request- telegrams nomatter how any other setting may be.

- Address updating/ uploading

While a visualization window is open you will see this symbol in the symbol bar:

All elements to be found in the active window will be uploaded to the address list if the button ispushed. For a better view you should use table description therefore.

4.5.6.1.2 Visualization

Use

The project section „Visualization“ divides into different windows, frames or pictures. Thesedifferent windows contain the elements and their corresponding functions.

To maintain clarity on your editor surface it is recommended to create a new window/ frame foreach part of your installation. These single windows can be linked any way you want by usingjumper.

You can create a new project section as described in chapter 4.5.6.1.

After mouseclick (left mousebutton) on the -icons dialog Option for Visualization opens:

4.5.6.2 The Elements

Use

Each project is described by windows or frames and elements. „Elements“ means sensitivearrays that construct the contact to the EIB system. They can be described as an interfacebetween man and machine. For example you’ll find rocker switches and dimmer control andsome more. Each of these elements has a different but defined task of its own. On one hand ithas to show the status of an object. On the other hand it has to react on mouse-input orkeyboard input to allow the element to send a telegram itself.

Elements are able to react on telegrams send by the EIB-bus, send telegrams itself, react onmouseclick, react on doubleclick, handle mouse movements, react on keyboard input and reacton changes of time. There are different types of elements that can be selected in theeditorprogram from different registers.

These different types react at least on one maybe on all of the above listed possibilities

During the WinSwitch Runtime-Programm a previously in the editor-program made setting willbe executed by simple mouseclick f.i. light on/ lights off.

Using the dialog Elements the different elements can be added to a project. The elements yousee below the index cards.

Call the dialog „Elements“Dialog will be opened by mouseclick on Show in the menue bar and next click on Elements. The pulldownmenue only will be displayed while a project is loaded.

Object may be switched by external switch as well as out of WinSwitch now.

Because dimming elements cannot receive but just send telegramms it makes no sense toenter more than one group address.

Page 78: ws2c

14

Note:

- If using the switch- function there may be up to 10 group addresses. The first one shows thesending and receiving address. The remaining ones are just receiving addresses of theswitch.

- Telegram will be sent including its sending group address if switch is used. Actual state isdisplayed by LED.

Actual state will be set to all receiving group addresses. Telegrams with this group addressesjust influence status lamp. Last received telegram is responsible for state of LED. There will beused binary telegrams only.

- Moreover there may be used dimming function. Element Rocker-type switch may have twofunctions by being double used as well as a switch and as a dimmer. If both functions areused at the same time the element decides wanted function by duration of actuation.

If switch is actuated just for a moment a switch telegram will be sent. Else if it is actuated fora prolonged period dimming function will be called. If used just as a dimmer dimmingfunction starts immediately after actuating.

When starting the dimming function a 4-bit telegram will be sent as a runtime- dimmer start-signal. Runtime speed is parametrized by attribute Step size. Dimming function will stop whenmousebutton is released again.

Differentitation will be made by addressing the objects. If there is just item Switch Object filledwith an address rocker- type switch will be used as a switch. In case of item Dimm Object isfilled it will be used as a dimmer only and if both items are filled both functions will be used.

Used as a switch actuation should be less than 2 seconds else dimming function will start.

Settings for Step size should be tried out directly on EIB.

Name: Logic gate 1 Bit

Symbol:

Element shown as:

Use

Logic gate 1 Bit serves for creating logical nexus like AND, OR , XOR according to booleanalgebra for max 10 input channels. At the same time input channel may be layed directly without linkage on output channel. That means input channels will be looped in ( Input = Output). This way you may create anobject with up to 10 * 5 = 50 addresses.

On the left side you’ll find the settings for input. Input state is defined by 1- Bit- telegramms. Each input up to 5 group addressess may be assigned to.If the gate receives a telegram with one of these group addresses input will be set thetelegram’s state ( f.i. ON or OFF). Therefore it doesn’t matter which of the assigned groupaddresses is received. Each input offers the possibility to invert incoming telegramms. You may select inverse functionby clicking the checkboxes. The checkboxes „calculate“ enable you to set an input filter.

There are 4 settings possible:

• Gate will be calculated if receiving „ON“ or „OFF“ (both checkboxes activated)

• Gate will be calculated just if receiving „ON“ (checkbox „ON“ activated)

• Gate will be calculated just if receiving „OFF“ (checkbox „OFF“ activated)

• Gate won’t be calculated even if receiving a telegram ( no checkbox activated)

Regardless whether the gate is calculated newly if receiving a telegram, input will be set totelegram’s state. Calculation lock is valid even if definitions for formula AND, OR, XOR andINPUT = OUTPUT are hurt.

All further settings may be done in this dialog as well as using the Element inspector. Functionsare identical with each other and settings will be taken over.Dialog will be finished with OK.

As soon as you reach the according line in the Element inspector the mouse pointer becomesan arrow again with an rectangle trailed.

If you release left mousebutton now the address is linked to the element.

Note:

-Logic gates base on boolean algebra and serve for connecting addresses. Deviated from thisconnections are implied in WinSwitch.

- Function

The basic function of a logic gate can be described as follows:

If a logic gate receives a telegram and the gate is parametrized to calculate the gate newly ifreceiving a telegram the gate defines the state of the output.

Base gate- form is an universal gate with 1 to 10 inputs, one output and logical calculationusing formula ON, OFF, XOR and INPUT=OUTPUT. If receiving a telegram the gate iscalculated newly and the calculated state is given to Output and will be sent if parametrized.Functions are defined as follows:

AND: All used Inputs have to be set ON so that Output is set ON. If just one Input is set OFFOutput will be set OFF.

Page 113: ws2c

5

OR: One of the used Input have to be set ON so that Output is set ON. If no Input is set ONOutput will be set OFF.

XOR: At least one Input has to be set ON and one Input has to be set OFF so that Output isset ON. If all Input are set ON or all Input are set OFF Output will be set OFF.

INPUT=OUTPUT: In this case there is no logical connection in the sense of boolean algebrabetween Input and Output. Output gets the state of the last received telegram. Input will belooped in. This serves for connecting addresses according to the EIB- definition. You maycreate objects with up to 50 addresses that way.

- General

It is possible to assign the same group address to several Inputs. For some applications this isan important feature but the gate may become intricate rapidly. Receiving a telegram settingseveral Inputs the gate will be calculated only once. Reactive coupling may happen if Outputaddress is the same as just one Input address. Gate may operate as a continous transmitterunder this circumstances.

Output state is caused in two ways :

On one hand Output can receive a telegram and is set to telegram’s state. On the other handOutput state is set by the gate’s calculation according to the logical equation.

Element Mathematic serves for carrying out different mathematic operations using up to 10telegram values. Telegram- format is of no importance but content. You may select from thefollowing options:

- Multiply multiplies up to 10 telegram values by each other

- Add adds up to 10 telegram values

- Equal compares values of up to 10 telegramms

- Higher than Value of telegram 1 is higher than value of telegramms 2- 10

- In Area Value of telegram 1 is higher than the smallest value of telegramms 2- 10and at the same time lower than the highest value of telegramms 2- 10

The result of the mathematic operation will be displayed or written out in a format (EIS1 - EIS10)you select.

Note!

Mathematic operation will be carried out without checking the format of incoming telegramvalues!

If you release left mousebutton now the address is linked to the element.

Button Release will lock / unlock Mathematic if linked to f.i. a switch. Just if an „ON“- telegram isreceived mathematic operation will be done.

Page 129: ws2c

21

Note

-date format for each input and the output may be set individually and independent from eachother. So this element may work as a transformer too.

Example: Input is set 1bit- format, factor is set 10 and offset 30. The result would be 40. Thisvalue now could be sent as 1-byte-value to output.

It is very important to define telegram formats correctly for each input (edit gate mathematic) inorder to get correct results.

One more source of error may be wrong data for factor, offet and startvalue.

If factor is set „ 0“ result(s) will be „ 0“ !!

Contents of the incoming telegramms will be multiplied, added or compared with each otherindependent from their format. So it is important for you to know the possible contents of inputformat as well as output format.

Example: Telegram- value Input 1 (EIS6 1Byte): 134Telegram- value Input 2 (EIS6 1Byte): 188

Mathematic gate: Multiplier

Output -format EIS6 1Byte

As result would be displayed: 255 (1 byte) – Result is false!!

Selecting Outputformat EIS10 2Byte or 4Byte:

As result would be displayed: 25192 - Result is correct!!

- After a restart startvalue will be taken over just if in menue Option => Default option=>Simulation Objecte =>set 0 is set.

Multiplexer is an element with two inputs having different data content and one output.

Data format may be selected from a pulldownmenue but must be the same for input andoutput!!

These two inputs are connected to one output but just one at a time. The Multiplexerdetermines the input to be linked to the output.

If Multiplexer gets an „OFF“- command all telegrams received on input 1 will be sent to outputwhile telegramms received on input 2 will be ignored.

If Multiplexer gets an „ON“- command all telegrams received on input 2 will be sent to outputwhile telegramms received on input 1 will be ignored. Multiplexer serves as a kind of switchbetween the inputs.

Using a release – object output will be locked/ unlocked.

Example: Input 1 serves for manual operating and input 2 for automatic operating. You mayselect now just one possibilty: if manual operation is set no automatic operating is possible andinverse. If you want to disable both methods Release has to be assigned an address of arelease- object like f.i. a timer to; so output will be locked.

Insert Multiplexer

By mouseclick on the symbol (located in the Element window) the symbol displays at the left topof your active project section. Now you may position it anywhere on the screen. 5.5.1 Dimmer

Name: Dimmer

Symbol:

Element shown as:

Use

Dimmer is a slider switch for 8-Bit-Objects. The position of the slider represents the actualvalue. By drawing the slider the value may be changed up or down.

Additionally Dimmer may react on 1- Bit- telegramms by skipping from 0 to 255 or from 255 to 0and so may be switched ON / OFF.

Receiving a 4-Bit-telegramm runtime- Dimmer „Start-Stop“ the element automatically queriesthe 8- Bit- value.

Slider switch serves for adjustment and display of the dimmer’s actual state. Size of the elementmay be changed. Information interchange between Dimmer and EIB happens by 8- Bit-telegramms. Element is able to send and to receive telegramms. Drawing the slider with yourmouse changes its position. Depending on parametrization telegramms will be sent cyclicduring positioning the slider or just if mousebutton is released again.

If wanted you may parametrize the element to display reference- arrows on the top and on thebottom of the element. On mouseclick slider will be positioned 5%, 10%, 20% or relatively up ordown.

Move 100% in (s) sets the speed of change (in seconds) together with Start-/ Stop-object. Runtime Dimmer will be emulated. Telegram value containsthree functions:• Dimm brighter• Dimm darker• Stop

(please read EIBA Documentation on EIS 2 for furtherinformation).

Received values will be executed on slider. Parameter Move 100%is decisive for speed. If this parameter is set „0“ there will be no reaction. Else timebetween „Start“ and „Stop“ will be converted to a percental valueand so slider position will be changed.

Ask on Stop this attribute is used in combination with Start-/ Stop- object ifDimmer acts together with a sensing device. In this case Dimmeris not able to get information about actual value of the dimmedobject if object was dimmed by external operator.

If ask on stop is set „ON“ Dimmer queries actual value afterreceiving a stop telegram from the operator and slider will bepositioned correctly.

Page 156: ws2c

Ask value this attribute is used in combination with Start-/ Stop- object ifDimmer acts together with a sensing deviceIf Dimmer receives an „ON“- telegram Dimmer sends the value sethere to te dimmed object. Settings are:

Maximum (100%), last valuet, no change or ask value.

Receiving an „OFF“- telegram resets value to „0“

Slider send cyclic slider sending its actual value cyclic; option: yes / no

Push Button sets fixed steps for slider; value decreases / increases on 5%, 10%20%

Using buttons on top and at the bottom of the slider Dimmer sends„Start“- and „Stop“- telegramms as well.

6. Simulation

Use

All functions created in the editor program may be tested in Simulation. This is a very importantphase during the evaluation of a project and so should be used extensively.

Misfunctions and evaluation mistakes have no effects and can be detected here.

While the Simulation is running no changes may be done.

Call Simulation

Simulation may be called from menue Project => start Simulation or clicking the icon Dialog opens:

EIB- Driver setting will be done here. Commands and messages coming from the bus will bedisplayed here.

Attributes

Simulation may be used as a pure software- simulation in the editor program, as well as usingdifferent hardware drivers. These hardware- drivers enable you to test your program with EIB- lab- installation or directly oninstallation.Handling informations the Simulation behaves the same way runtime program does.

Differences are:

1. Runtime duration of SimulationSimulation runtime lasts about 1 hour. After expiration Simulation will quit and programreturns to the editor program.

Page 175: ws2c

3

2. Passwords

Simulation has no password- list. To simulate a user having Userlevel >0 this userlevelcan be set directly. There will be no automatical logout on userlevel 0 .

3. DatabaseDuring Simulation no database for documentation of system data or runtime data willbe installed. Messages or telegramms will not be recorded or stored.

4. MessagesMessages will be removed from your screen after 1 minute automatically. This time cannot be set as known from runtime program.

5. Maximum telegramm- rateThe telegram- server being responsible for execution of telegramms is just able to senda telegram each 100 ms in other words it doesn’t work with EIB- speed. This limitationhelps you to control elements being set on continous transmission.

Messages received and sent are handled exactly the same as in the runtime program and soyou may test the reaction of the elements under real conditions.

Stop Simulation

Simulation may be stopped from menue Project => stop Simulation or clicking the

If your WinSwitch computer is not connected to an EIB- system or you don’t want to initiate areal switching you can work with Simulation Driver. Data transfer between computer and EIB willbe simulated. Program reacts as if connected with the EIB- system.

There are some restrictions:

Bus velocity Bus simulation sends 10 telegramms per second. This is a quitelow rate. If connected to the EIB-bus this rate will be evidentlyhigher.

Receiving data Of course there may be no external telegram received duringSimulation. Telegrams have to be initialised by the program itself

Confirmation Spool64 notifies sent telegramms to the program just if thecorresponding address confirms reception. Bus will be simulatedthat way as if for all telegramms there will be an existing address.

Parameter for Simulation drivers

Clicking the button „options“ opens dialog:

Now you may set delay and reaction on bus- enquiries here.

There are three settings possible:

Not answering bus- enquiries are not answered

Answer with OFF bus- enquiries are answered with OFF- telegram

Answer with ON bus- enquiries are answered with ON- telegram

6.2.2 Serial Interface

Attributes

To use the driver on serial interface EIB RS232 interface has to be connected to thecorresponding interface with a modem cable. Interface and bus have to be efficient.

Driver may be installed on any COM interface (1-4).

Note

Please take care that no other unit is connected to selected interface and no other driver usesthe interface the same time.

Furtheron interface may not be used by Windows for other programms.

Especially ETS- software may not be loaded because else both programms would serveinterface the same time und system would break down.

Parameters for Serial Interface

After selection of Serial Interface from Driver- menue and clicking the „option“ button dialogopens:

Now you may select interface out of pulldownmenue. Selection will be confirmed with OK orcanceled.

Page 181: ws2c

9

If your system is efficient now initialization will start. All elements you wanted to initialize nowsend their initialization- telegram. This procedure may last some time. After that system isusable.

Note

- After starting the driver some more information is displayed under index charts „Driver“ and„Messages“ in Simulation office

-There may be the following messages displayed:

EIB onlineSystem is connected to EIB. Telegramms are sent both directions.

no UARD module foundInterface module can’t be found. Depending on its hardware configuration your computer isunable to send information using selected interface. Driver will be unloaded and bus-simulation starts automatically.

No interface (device) selectedNo interface resp. no valid interface was selected. Driver will be unloaded and bus-simulation starts automatically.

no EIB found on interfaceOn selected interface no EIB RS232 was found. There may be some reasons: EIB is out offunction, EIB has no power supply or jack is not plugged in correctly.

Test efficiency of EIB, check RS232 cable (has to be a complete modem- cable to transmitall signals), check plug connection.

Driver will be unloaded and bus- simulation starts automatically.

Time out. No communication possibleThere are basic problems in communication between computer and EIB. Quality ofconnection is as bad that even several trials have no success. This error message may bedisplayed even after program has started. In this case telegramms couldn‘ d be sent orreceived.

Driver will be unloaded and bus- simulation starts automatically.

Page 182: ws2c

10

6.2.3 Spool64

Attributes

Spool64 offers you the momentarily most reliable connection to EIB. This hardware extensionhas a processor of its own. This processor is responsible for communication with EIB andadditionally may store all information. Data transfer between EIB and WinSwitch becomesasynchronous. Time- critical functions will be handled by a therefor specialised processor.

At the same time Spool64 is the fastest available connection to EIB. Up to 22 telegramms persecond may be sent to EIB twisted pair.

Parameters for Spool64

After selection of Spool64 from Driver- menue and clicking the „option“ button dialog opens:

Settings for Spool64 will be done using index charts „System Option“ and „Velocity“. Usingindex „System Option“ Base Address for Spool64 is set. Standard setting is 360 Hex. Forfurther information please read the manual for Spool64.

To set Reset on Start checkbox has to be selected. This effects a reset on every new start.

WatchDog activate gives you additional security. If WatchDog is active Spool64 is waiting forinformation or dialog from the program every few milliseconds. If the program is operatingcorrectly it has to communicate cyclic with Spool64 to get eventually received telegramms.Correct operation may be disturbed by some events:

- Hardware failure or Hardware crash,- Software errors in operating system or in WinSwitch

Page 183: ws2c

11

Spool64 will recognize this situation because there will be no request from the program. In thiscase Spool64 initiates hardware reset. If your operating system (especially AUTOEXEC.BAT,WIN.INI and AUTOSTART) is prepared for automatical restart operation will start againautomatically.

When starting Simulation WatchDog will be deactivated.

In index chart „Velocity“ you may select if Spool64 shall wait for acknowledge when sending atelegram (=> wait for ACK)

If WinSwitch sends a telegram and telegram is not answered with an acknowledge it won’t bereported back to WinSwitch. On your screen this has the same effect as if no telegram wassent. If f.i. a switch is actuated and its address is unknown on EIB the switch won’t change itsstate.

This procedure ensures that if back signal is incoming the corresponding address has receivedyour telegram.

Settings for Telegram control :

Normal Normal monitoring

Smart simple monitoring

Safe secure monitoring

Settings for waiting time are:

Waiting time query Setting in milliseconds; selection from pulldownmenue: 20,50, 100, 200, 500 ms

Waiting time switching Setting in milliseconds; selection from pulldownmenue: 20,50, 100, 200, 500 ms

Page 184: ws2c

Note

- After starting the driver some more information is displayed under index charts „Driver“ and„Messages“ in Simulation office

-There may be the following messages displayed:

EIB onlineSystem is connected to EIB after restart. Interrupt will be displayed. This message is notdisplayed when program starts first time.

No driver hardware foundSpool64 couldn’t be found. In this case please check base address in your settings and onSpool64 card directly.

Loss of data because of syncronisation faultThis message will be displayed if communication between Spool64 and EIB iwasinterrupted temporary. In this case some data may be lost. Incorrect sent telegramms willbe repeated 4 times by EIB so normally the switching will be done nevertheless. Generallythere will be no effect on switchings in EIB or WinSwitch even if error message is displayed.

no EIB found on interfaceOn selected interface no EIB RS232 was found.

6.2.5 TCP/IP Server

Attributes

TCP/IP Server enables network connection (LAN) between WinSwitch computer and anotherPC. This PC connects to EIB and so serves as EIB- ServerThese function may be carried out directly by ASTONIntelligentPortal (ASTON Martin LAN) aswell.

For connection you need a efficient network. EIB- server is responsible for connection to EIB.

If ASTONIntelligentPortal is not used as EIB-Server WSS (WinSwitch Server Socket) has to beinstalled on the computer operating as server.

Parameter for TCP/IP Server

After selection of TCP/IP from Driver- menue and clicking the „option“ button dialog opens:

7. General Informations

In this chapter you’ll find general information about EIB and visualization.

7.1 Telegram values

In theWinSwitch -program the following telegram values can be found:

EIS 1 Data format1 Bit

EIS 1 is the simplest EIB-telegram value. It serves for transmission of simple commands likeON and OFF

EIS 2 Data format 4 Bit

Using this data format dimming- objects can be dimmed according to EIS2 . Possiblesettings: up, down, stop and speed

EIS 5 Data format 16 Bit (2 Byte floating point)

According to EIBA definition digital 16 bit will be transmitted. No individiual transmittingfunction is needed. A sensor serves for calibration. Data format may be used for processvariables like pressure or temperature.

EIS 6 Data format 8 Bit (1 Byte)

Up to 255 different states can be formulated with this format. An analog- digital- converterconverts analogous data to one of the 255 possible digital states. After transmission thisdigital value will be converted again.

EIS 8 Data format 2 Bit

EIS8 transmission serves for priorisation. Priorisation is a kind of restriction: if priorizedelement switches „ON“ no other unpriorized element is able to switch „OFF“ then. There are two states: priorized ON and priorized OFF

EIS 10 Data format 16 Bit (2 Byte Word)

This format allows 65536 different states. Transmission is realized the same way asdescribed for EIS 6. Analogous process variables may be described 256 times more precise.Analogous value has to be calibrated.

EIS 10 Data format 16 Bit (4 Byte Word)

Serves for even better digital description of analogous data. 231 – 1 states may be described.

EIS 10 Data format 16 Bit (2 Byte Integer)

This format is alike 2 Byte Word but highest bit shows sign.Values possible from -32768 to 32767.

Page 190: ws2c

7.2 Logic gate

Use

Logic gates serve for connecting addresses and base on boolean algebra.

Function

Basic function of logic gates in WinSwitch can be described as follows:

Page 191: ws2c

4

7.3 Dongle

Use

Dongle is the hardware- key for WinSwitch.

Dongle is needed to abolish license restrictions. Without a dongle no runtime program can bestarted.

If buying software and license Dongle will be included. If software is downloaded or copiedDongle has to be bought additionally.

General

Dongle has to be plugged in LTP1- interface permanent as long as runtime program is active.

Dongle is programmed for each customer unique and contains license- number. In addition toenabling you to create runtime files the Dongle entitles you to get updates form the internet forthe next 12 month (from date of aquisition)

www.aston-technologie.de

If Dongle gets lost ASTON GmbH will not substitute it!! Software has to be aquired again.

Dongle may not be given to third party !

Licensee with all rights and duties is the owner of the Dongle.

Page 192: ws2c

5

7.4 Data converting

Use

Data converting serves for converting project files created with WinSwitch 1.5.X in order to editthem in WinSwitch 2.

General

Files will be converted with WS Transfer.exe . The program will be installed automaticallyto selected WinSwitch directory and may be started from here.

Converting files

After WS Transfer.exe is called dialog opens:

Using this dialog file will be selected and converted.

Page 193: ws2c

6

Project name including path of loaded file and remarks display.Project table including all informations about the project can be seen as well.

Page 194: ws2c

7

After old (1.5.X) project is loaded it will be converted just by saving it with another (new)filename.

After that dialog opens and shows you information about converting.

Note

Because of particularity of the elements:

- Protocol(print)

- malfunktion message

- Analog instrument

- Timer

there may happen faults during converting these elements.Elements should be changed in 1.5.x- project before or re-adjusted in WinSwitch 2 afterconverting.

Page 195: ws2c

8

Adjustments

Protocol(print)Because WinSwitch 2 offers you just 1 object and two different messages you have to createadditional protocols to get the same function as before.

Malfunction messageMalfunction message has got 1 input in WinSwitch 2, so you have to do the same asexplained above.

Analog instrumentAnalog instrument doesn’t have sequence switch anymore in WinSwitch 2

TimerIf Weekly timer and/ or Annual timer should be used list- entries switching times have toprogrammed newly.
