Residents experiencing water problems for years
By Xpress Reporters
t the heart of the Townview Aarea in the
Court Road area and Rocky Park, residents c l a i m t h e y h a v e e x p e r i e n c e d w a t e r stoppages on average for four years before Ilembe declared an official drought.
The Xpress Times newspaper sent two journalists into the area to interview rate payers; near the reservoir and to visit the valve mentioned in last week's article: “Bleeding the pipe d u r i n g d r o u g h t ” (31/07/15) in Court Road.
If the testimony of last w e e k ' s p e r s o n i s anything to go by then this week ratepayers who were interviewed, had much more to get off their collective chests.
Due to resident's fear of an imagined intimidation from “Ilembe and local government officials,” the Xpress Times had to withhold publishing names upon request.

SALE WATER LOSS: At this point in Court Road, Townview one resident claims that water was gushing for “close onto
15 to 20 minutes” unattended
Has Ilembe failed ratepayers?Continued from page 1According to a middle aged
couple living in Court Road for the past four years, the issue of water stoppages has plagued them since they moved to the area.
“We always had to store water in Valpre containers since then but we do understand there is drought. When we phoned Ilembe, we were told about 'bleeding the
line' and that contractors were on their way.
“For 4 years our Townview home was always having water cut off at 4am then restored at 11am; then cut again at 3pm and restored at 12am almost daily,” they c l a i m e d . T h e y a l s o questioned the pattern of the stoppages and asked if “somebody wants overtime.”
Another householder, from
the same road, confirmed that he had to “store water in bottles” and had the problem for seven years maintaining that he was told that Ilembe was “flushing the lines.”
A lady a few doors away, living in the area for 20 years, attested to the situation being frustrating and said that she was adapting to using the water used to clean dishes for flushing her toilet. She had a
food blender size filter appliance to drink water.
A more affluent gentleman said “although this a drought the call centre is useless” and said that he relied on his 20 litre containers for water and added that he purchased Aquelle bottled water when the cuts came.
Then onto Rockwell Drive in Rocky Park, a resident living there for five years,
w h o s a i d t h a t , s h e experiences water problems “but not so bad.”
An elderly couple from the above area then asked if “Ilembe could notify us.”
Two of the residents interviewed claimed they had no knowledge of who their current councillor is and one did not think of phoning him.
This past weekend the area
had no water at all... A rate paying resident called the Xpress Times and said there was no water on thef o l l o w i n g d a y s a n ddocumented the hours:
Friday: 6pm to 10pm (4 hours), Saturday: 5am to 11am (more than 12 hours) and Sunday: 6pm to 9:30pm (little more than three hours). Two weeks ago the residentreported a similar pattern and
a week prior - the same.Notha Maphumulo of
Ilembe, who deals with water affairs responded by saying that due to vandalism the current issues persist. He also explained the aspect of “bleeding the water.”
“Bleeding the water, refers to a process that must be done to flush out the air pockets that if not done would lead to a massive system failure.”
He added that “water had to be lost” during the bleeding process due to releasing air pockets and said “not much water is lost.”
These rate payers want to know who pays for the water that is "bled" in a drought.

According to Project Manager Ricky Naidoo of Edge to Edge contractors, a local KwaDukuza man, the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) has given his company four months to complete the now close to a year project that was in a figurative stasis and boasted shoddy workmanship.

The Xpress Times while interviewing Naidoo and his wife, at the site, had two Hill Crescent residents come up to the journalist thanking the community newspaper for highlighting this issue frequently until it received attention.

As part of improving service delivery, Stanger Hospital is now moving to electronic filing system in the Out Patient Department. This means that all patient records will be captured electronically.
We therefore request co-operation from all our booked and new clients who have been referred to us by local clinics or General Practitioners (GP's) / Local Private Doctors. Booked and referred patients are requested to bring the following documents on their visit:
• A referral letter from the local
The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has welcomed the recent rainfall in the province but it has also warned that its impact has been insufficient to reverse the long-term effects of the prolonged drought in the province.
“Our dam levels remain critically low throughout the province. As much as we welcome the recent rains, the amount of rain water has not
Dam levels “remain critically low”been enough to refill the dams to levels that could be considered adequate,” said KZN MEC for Cogta Nomusa Dube-Ncube.
The KZN Cogta maintains that the province needs at least five days of sustained rainfall in the key catchment areas for KZN's major dams to begin to fill up on a sustainable basis. Until such a time, all water restrictions imposed by individual municipalities remain in place.
“People and businesses are advised to cont inue to conserve water as before and harvest rain water when there is rain. Rain water can be used to relieve the effects of drought in gardens or for any other purpose where grey water is normally used,” said Dube-Ncube.
KZN Cogta has been on alert during the recent rains to assist affected communities in
the event of flash flooding. Fortunately, no such incidents have been reported to date but the depar tmen t ' s r ap id response teams are ready to intervene at short notice.
“The public must not take the recent rains as evidence that the drought is over. Statistically, most of our dams have only recorded minimal
water gains in the region o f 1 - 2 percentage points. This is c lear ly not enough to end the s t a t e o f d i s a s t e r , ” said Dube-Ncube.

ILEMBE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY
ILEMBE UMASIPALA WESIFUNDA
STRICT WATER RESTRICTIONIN PLACE - 50% REDUCTION!
The iLembe District Municipality is currently experiencing one of the worst droughts in the past 30 years. Water levels at the Hazelmere Dam continue to deteriorate at approximately 1% every 4 days and the current levels is LESS THAN 27%. Based on the current demand trend the Dam will run out of water in 50 days.
All Service Providers including iLembe District Municipality, eThekwini Water Services and Sembcorp Siza Water are now applying strict water restrictions.
Next week iLembe will begin installing restrictors to all its consumers to manage water demand. This will reduce water consumption and also stretch the available water resources. The restrictors will be installed in all meters.
All previous water restrictions will remain in place. Water rationing began on 2 July 2015 from 08h00 to 16h00 as well as at 21h00 to 04h00. The following areas are affected:

I am Daniel from Limpopo. My number is 079 394 3103 a man with 3 kids. I have been suffering for many years after I lost a job. I tried many ways, different
doctors, herbalists and sangomas but nobody helped me instead they just took my money for nothing. I
then saw the testimoney for Anna in the newspaper but I thought it was just a joke until I trusted her because she is my sisters friend and I was very shocked to see how her life has been changed.
Luckily he told me her secret. Anna told me that she asked Baba Khumalo to use his rats to put money in her house and she was shocked too see R875 000 in the morning and Anna only paid R125 000. I called
him for gambling and he said I will be a winner for the next draw. I did what he told me to do and what he
gave me the 6 lucky numbers and I could not believe that I won all the numbers, I paid him 15% and my friend visited him at his place and he gave him the
magic wallet that pays him R17 000 daily and he pays back R25 000 weekly and my younger brother chose the short boys to put 2 million in his bank account it
happened in just 3 hours and he received the banking message and he paid him R350 000. To all the people
who are suffering out there, don’t lose hope in life just try Baba Khumalo and things will workout to be a

TESTIMONY OF HOPE THANK DOCTOR RAJABU AND HIS MAGIC WALLET
My name is Mashudu from Limpopo number :073 234 8990. One of the woman who lost money to other
doctors. I was disappointed and lost hope until last year when I read a
testimony of Sandile on this number: 082 868 1223 for the miracle & power of Doctor Rajabu. He testified that he lost everything with the bank, the wife ran
away from him, but Doctor Rajabu managed to bring his wife back. Then he hired short boys that gave him lots
of money. Now he owns a furniture store. He told me to call Doctor Rajabu,
he asked me to choose from magic wallet, ring, short boys, rats, I chose magic wallet, he sent it the same day.
Then the following morning it started to work and I received R20000 and paid him 10% every week. I thank him for
saving my life. Try him, he will change your life. No human sacrifice.

Those special memories of you will always bring a smile if only we could have you back for just a little while. Then we could sit and talk again just
like we used to do. You always meant so very much and always will do too. The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause us pain but you’re
forever in our hearts until we meet again...
