Protests in EteteBy Xpress Reporter

The momentum of service delivery protests across the KwaDukuza region picked up from where it left off in Thembeni, Glenhills and Rocky Park just months ago.

Etete residents took to the streets on Sunday morning and continued on Tuesday morning, this week.

Burning tyres, boulders on roads and miscellaneous obstructions were placed with protestors reportedly carrying spears and knobkieries.

Traffic officials were hard pressed to keep the Etete R102 route open, but the closures were on and off.

Like the Thembeni issue of R e c o n s t r u c t i o n a n d Development Programme (RDP) homes construction coming to a halt; raising the ire of that community, Etete residents also cite that as one of their issues.

Residents from neighbouring areas reportedly joined the Etete protests and citizens demanded that KDM Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu address them collectively.PROTEST IRE: Etete residents up in arms over service delivery personified by the sporadic fires seen

The transport costs of these valuable resources are exorbitant and must be funded through fund r a i s i n g e f f o r t s b y t h e participating schools. The schools engage in various fund

Last year the event was very successful and many from the community supported it. An appeal is made to the local community to support the event this year.

The liaison officer added that in a separate incident in the area, a man was arrested for assaulting his 57-year-old mother with a stick. “It is alleged that they were engaged in an argument at home in Bulwer Farm, Tugela, and the son demanded money from the pensioner.

“He ended up breaking her arm. He has been arrested by Newark SAPS.”

DEVOUT: Devotees participated in a spiritually uplifting procession and walked several kilometres singing and chanting the name of Lord “Hanumanji” that was

held on Sunday by the Shree Hanuman Temple in Stanger Manor

Shree Hanuman chariot procession

(KDM) Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu paid a visit to the site where he commented on its latest features. He gave a nod of approval to the upgrades saying that human life is important and deserves dignified treatment even

after it departs from the world.

“As Council we have a huge and often difficult responsibility, as we are mandated to provide services to those who are still living and to those who depart.

“It is against this moral and

fundamental belief that led into making improvements to this facility so that even the families who receive service in th i s cemete ry and crematorium recognise the responsibility and value that we give to the deceased,” said Mthembu.

Major developments in this

facility include roadworks, fencing, concrete footpaths, storm water chutes and a new crematorium.

“We want the people of KwaDukuza to be laid to rest in dignity. With the capacity we have developed, this facility will also cater for other people who fall under

the Ilembe District.“We have experienced

immense pressure in terms of capacity that is why we have invested an amount of R 4 million to further develop this facility to its current state so that our communities are serviced efficiently and in an adequate manner.”

IT'S TRUE PAPA SUNIL AND MOTHER CHANTELNAIDOO DO NOT CHARGE FOR THEIR HEALING,

THEY ONLY DO IT FOR GODLY SAKE.DEAR READERS

My name is Ashika Govender from Umhlanga, am 46 years of age and a mother of 3 beautiful children. After a local priest referred me to Papa Sunil Naidoo and I consulted with

them, my husband who had gone for 6 months came, knelt down, burst into tears and begged for forgiveness. IT ALL BEGAN when I booked an appointment through the phone

and I spoke to the old man of God, I met with both of them in their beautiful home in ROSEBANK. When I met them, I found a lot of people in queue waiting for help, I waited and

they called my name and surname before I could even explain to them about me they told me everything about myself, I was so shocked!!! They even mentioned that my husband was

involved with another young girl who was working at our business. They prayed for me gave me spiritual oil and advised me

to go home and use it. I immediately used the oil and waited for good news, my husband called, he asked if I was at home, then he came and knelt down, burst into tears and asked

for forgiveness in front of my children. Ever since then, he came back, he changed his lifestyle, now we are a happy family again.

PAPA SUNIL and mother Chantel ate GODLY sent.

THANKS PAPA SUNIL AND HIS WIFE FOR THE WONDERFUL STRONG PRAYERS DONE FOR ME TOO.

A bad adTwo employees at a local bar have given their business a bad name.

According to Sthembiso Mkhwanazi he was in the toilet at Bafana Bafana Tavern. A worker approached him and told him he should not behave in a “clever manner”. The worker was joined by a co-worker and they began slapping him. He left the premises and the assault continued with bricks being hurled at him. Bongani Zikhali (29) and security guard, Vincent Mavundla (28) are due back at court on 9 May.

Foreign businesses targetedTwo foreign businessmen were robbed in their shops over the past week. In

the first incident, Yacobe Abowa alleges he was held up at gunpoint by two youths who robbed him of cash, cigarettes and airtime valued at about R15 000. A few days later another businessman, Billium Momiso was also held up by two youths and robbed of cash, cigarettes and airtime amounting to R18 000. With the aid of informers, police arrested Sandile Zungu (25) and Bongimphilo Buthelezi (26). Both youths face two counts of armed robbery and will seek bail this week.

Sleeping more peacefullySelven Pillay's mosquito problems might have just

ended or began over again. The builder from Darnall was spotted placing two cans of Peaceful Sleep inside his pants. He was arrested by security at Shoprite as he left the premises. He initially came up with a concocted version to hide the truth but decided to tell the truth. He was sentenced to a fine of R500 or three months imprisonment which was conditionally suspended for 3 years. One is not sure where the mosquitoes were actually stinging.

A sobering experienceNjabulo Mvuyane of Groutville alleges he had

gone on a drinking session with friends. After a few good shots he decided to hand over his cellphone to one of his drinking mates for safekeeping. At 4am he requested his phone from his equally drunk drinking pal. Muntu Mhlongo (41) denied any knowledge and a fight broke out. Mvuyane alleges he was slapped, kicked and stabbed in the head and back, and received 5 stitches for his injuries. Mhlongo was released on bail and is due back at court on 10 May.

Who's the April Fool?Lindiwe Sokhulu of Ntshawini alleges she was

returning home from the nearby tuck-shop at 3pm on April Fools Day. She was approached by a woman from the area who swore and attacked her. Ignoring the attacker she went home and a short while later the woman returned armed with a pipe and a knife. She tried to disarm the woman and was cut across her fingers. The woman then stabbed her in the breast and neighbours intervened. Goodness Nyatikazi (43) is due back at court on 11 May.

MAMA ALISHA

071 022 3640

THANKS MAMA ALISHA ITS REALLY HAPPENING NOW WITH YOU

I am Carl from Ballito and am here to testify to my fellow South Africans about a miracle I encountered when I visited

MAMA ALISHA to help me fix my financial situation. I was almost left homeless as I had lost my home and car to fake traditional healers. On my visit she gave different ways of helping me and chose the magic wallet that brings 25000

everyday and paid her 70 000 every week from the money I made from the magic wallet. I told my cousin Petros about it and he too chose the rats that bring money in the house after which he got 40 000 and paid 9000. Mama Alisha. I know it's

the same way you can be helped you have to see to believe so visit her or call her 0710223640

MY WIFE TOLD ME TO GO TO HELL WHEN I

WAS POOR BUT SHE WANTS ME BACK

BECAUSE IM RICHI am Cliff from Umhlanga. I came to know about Mama Alisha from Auntie Merina who lives in Stanger and had previously visited her with a financial

problem and it had been fixed. I had lost all my money, cars, business some of which was left to me by my late parents. When things went real bad. My wife told me to go to hell and started having affairs looking out for rich men and

when I confronted her about it she told me go to hell, left me alone and went. I suffered for almost 2 years but meeting Mama Alisha rose me up again. She

gave me a magic wallet with which I could get money daily inside my house. I opened up a new business worth 2 million rands bought 2 new cars and when my wife heard that I am up again she wants me back, thinking of forgiving her but am not sure. Only that she is the mother of my 3 kids. I can forgive her for only that. If Alisha bought my life back to normal, I know she can help you too.

I am a famous and genuine herbalist worth over 36 years of experience. I have helped so many people all over the world. I was born with powers that use sources of nature to heal and solve all

kinds of problem that are making people unhappy. I tell you what happened in the future, before you say anything as the Nelisha testifies.

I am Nalisha Singh of Phoenix. I’m 39 years old and single mum of 3 kids. After the death of my

husband, I was left all alone no finance, no home, no car as I couldn’t pay for any of these because my husband was only bread winner. I started begging everyone I knew and people were fed up with

me. Then one day I went to visit my cousin who was a widow also but life was just moving on successful even better than when her husband was still alive. She was wearing a brown ring on her middle finger when I asked her how she had made it to the top she told me it was the ring she

was wearing I asked where she got it from She continued telling me that when you wear this ring you feel energised focussed and you concentrate on one thing the solution every time.

When I wear this ring I feel different. The ring has made me rich as it made me win the casino ‘‘600 000’’ the first time and 850 000 the second time. You are no different you too can win. So I Nelisha

went to visit but he told me the magic wallet was true the best solution for me. Indeed it was true with the wallet I have brought myself and family a new car Range Rover. My kids are in good

schools. Suffer no more one phone call will change your life forever the one and only

To our happiness

From: The Ramdin and Singh Family 25/04/16

We are blessed to have a bundle of joy in our lives.

We love you too many.

There once was a speedy Hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, the Tortoise challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

The Hare ran down the road for a while and then paused to rest. He looked back at the tortoise and cried out, "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"

The Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."

The Tortoise walked and walked; never ever stopping until he came to the finish line.

The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise that they woke up Hare. The Hare stretched, yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise had already crossed the finish line.

MORAL: Slow and steady wins the race

I was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching my wife, Beverly, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off I asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

'I'd like to be eight again', she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her Birthday, I arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to Adventure World theme park. What a day!

I put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later we staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. I then took her to a McDonald's and ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home and collapsed into b e d e x h a u s t e d .I leaned over my wife & with a big smile lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being eight again?

Her eyes slowly opened a n d h e r e x p r e s s i o n suddenly changed.

‘I meant my dress size, you idiot!!!!'

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.

A defendant isn't happy with?how things are going in court, so he gives the judge a hard time.

Judge: “Where do you work?”

Defendant: “Here and there.”

Judge: “What do you do for a living?”

: “This and that.”

Judge: “Take him away.”Defendant: “Wait; when

will I get out?”Judge: “Sooner or later.”

TREE TRIMMINGS: Dumping in front of the house in Stock Road is regarded as illegal by the municipality. Ward councillor Madhun Sobram Sing said he carried out inspections and discovered that it was common practice by residents.“The municipality refuses to pick them up. However residents are encouraged to dump the tree trimmings at the transfer site in Yellowwood Drive in the Industrial area free of charge near the Stanger Cemetery,” he said.

Rooting out corruption starts with us all, I really do believe that the truth needs to be heard on this matter. Various articles mentioned that the donation was a gift for Reddy's 62nd birthday, while the tender process was still in progress. Can it just be a coincidence that these dates coincide? This should definitely be investigated by the public protector and the public must be made known. There is also the first notice which went out in December 2013 which called for the “Proposal for Council owned Land” without even mentioning the Golf course. There have been many reasons for the public to doubt the legitimacy of the 'New Mall' deal in KDM proposed by Reddy. Millions of rands are lost every year because of tender fraud and deep pockets, how much more can this money be used to uplift communities and create jobs and housing for the millions in South Africans who need it. Indeed we all want a better community and skills development and so much more but can we as the community be reassured that it is at no cost to our countries law and constitution. Two wrongs do not make a right.

“Stanger's own modern day version of David and Goliath”

How interesting a read in the article: “We offer R2m to Cllr Nel” published in last week's edition of your paper? The underdog taking on the multi-millionaire Stanger's own modern day version of David and Goliath. I'm not much for politics but it's definitely not rocket science to read between the lines on this one.

Mr Vivian Reddy, KwaDukuza may be a small and simple town but I assure you that its people are not small and simple minded who can be easily fooled by philanthropists like yourself. Your response to the comments made by Cllr Sewraj is aimed only to highlight your magnanimous contributions to the social and welfare developments of this town. Yet you failed to mention the magnitude of the benefits you have received in return from your involvement in this town. Disclosing that would have made your article an even better read! Oh! Mr Reddy we are not stupid or feeble! Your fine and articulate way with words does not fool us from seeing the true intentions of your actions.

You are prepared to give away R 2 million of your money on what seems like a childish challenge, why not just donate it and more anyways to this community, since you have it to spare. But I gather you will not do that since your giving to this community has its own hidden agendas and has been opportunity for you to also make money out of this community. We are not ignorant of the fact that your left hand has received way more in return for your right hand generosity to this town. We are not fools!

tried Psychic Sarah as my last hope. I got her information on radio, newspapers about her powerful healing prayers and powers. I called her and booked an appointment with her but before I could tell her anything she checked in her holy pot of water. She showed me a photo of my husband kissing a woman I was so shocked she told me my husband is abusive of which its very true. Psychic Sarah cleansed and made a powerful prayer for. performing miracles. More still, it will protect you from evil powers & witchcraft i.e. Nothing can destroy your life any how and it can make lover faith i.e. Make him/ her love you alone.

Gambling, like lotto, casino and machine play, 100% is guaranteed when the magic ring is used

KwaDukuza Welcomes International Festival of Surfing to Ballito in June

T h e W o r l d S u r f i n g League's elite performers will be joined by the cream of the country's men, women and juniors at Ballito on the K w a D u k u z a c o a s t o f KwaZulu-Natal in June for a festival of unsurpassed surfing excellence.

For an eighth successive year the region will host the top international and South African men who will be competing in the Ballito Pro presented by Billabong, a WSL Qualifying Series (QS) 10,000 rated event with a prize-pool of R4 million. The w o m e n w i l l a g a i n demonstrate their skills in the QS1,000, R50 000, Ballito Women's Pro presented by B i l l a b o n g w h i l e t h e Billabong Junior Series includes events for men and women aged 18 and under at Ballito for the first time.

“ K w a D u k u z a Municipality is privileged to continue our private-public partnership for growth by bringing the Ballito Pro, the country's most popular

SURFS UP: Alejo Muniz of Brazil on his way to victory in the 2015 Ballito Pro

professional surfing event, to our region, province, country and continent,” says the Mayor of KwaDukuza, Cllr Ricardo Mthembu. “During a declining world economy, the Ballito Pro drives tourism g rowth , c r ea t e s l oca l business opportunities and m u c h n e e d e d j o b opportunities.”

“We thank our partners World Surfing League and Billabong, along with the contribution made by local businesses, our community, s t a f f a n d e m e r g e n c y services. This year's event coincides with the 40th celebration of June 16 and provides a platform for the youth of the world to showcase their talent and highlight global integration through sport. KwaDukuza is ready to host all our visitors and provide the surfers, from the Junior Series to the world's best professionals, wi th an unforget tab le e x p e r i e n c e t h a t w i l l encourage you to become brand ambassadors for

Ballito and South Africa in general.”

Continuing its storied 47 year legacy as the world's longest running professional surfing event, the Ballito Pro will be bigger and better in all aspects in 2016 as it again welcomes the support of g l o b a l a p p a r e l a n d equipment giant Billabong, w h i c h h a s a d d e d i t s acclaimed and long running junior series to the mix this year.

“Billabong is once again really proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 2016 Ballito Pro,” said B i l l a b o n g S A G r o u p Marketing Manager, Chad D'Arcy. “Last year's event was a phenomenal success and we are looking to build on what we achieved in 2015. Working with KwaDukuza was such a pleasure and we can't wait to be back in Ballito again. We will be adding a junior surfing event as part of our annual Billabong Junior Series, which will bring another

exciting element into the schedule.”

The 2015 Ballito Pro field included 17 of the world's top 34 ranked surfers and was won by Alejo Muniz whose haul of 10 000 points contributed significantly to the Brazilian's qualification for the prestigious 2016 WSL Championship Tour (CT). This year's expanded 112-man field provides the local WSL Africa registered surfers with invaluable expe r i ence compe t ing against the world's best, along with opportunities to earn pr ize-money and coveted rankings points while competing in their home surf.

Points received in the Ballito Women's Pro count towards the annual WSL Africa titles and ensures that the country's top female competitors qualify for preferential seeding into international events. And competitors aged 18-and-under in the Billabong Junior Series will be striving for the

prestigious event titles and selection for the WSL Africa squad that is invited to the a n n u a l W S L J u n i o r Championships.

“It's fantastic for South A f r i c a n s u r f i n g , KwaDukuza, Ballito and the WSL that we are able to host the continent's highest level QS rated event at this superb venue for the eighth year in a row,” says WSL Africa Operations Manager, Colin Fitch. “We look forward to seeing 112 of the world's best surfers produce another spectacular display of high performance surfing in Ballito. The opportunity for our top pro juniors to rub shoulders and compete with these top performers will help to raise the standard of surfing in South Africa. T h a n k s a g a i n t o KwaDukuza, Billabong and Ballito.”

The Ballito Pro and Ballito Women's Pro events will run in conjunction between Monday 27 June and Sunday 3 July. They are preceded by

the Surfing South Africa Trials on Sunday 26 June with the four-day Billabong Junior S e r i e s r u n n i n g f r o mWednesday to Saturday, 22 25 June.

While the surfers ride the waves, the Ballito Pro Festival is set to turn up the heat in KwaDukuza by offering the best in beach, music and extreme sports entertainment. Locals and holiday-makers will be spoilt for choice with the week-long festival featuring an extreme sports programme, the Coastal Living Bru Food & Wine Festival and an exciting retail area while the Ballito Pro Music Concerts Powered by 5FM bring some of South Africa's most talented music acts to the stage in Salt Rock.

The Ballito Pro presented by Billabong is proudly supported by the KwaDukuza Municipality, Billabong,5FM, Monster Energy,Zigzag Surfing Magazine, World Surf League (WSL) and Surfing South Africa (SSA).

Manor Primary triumph in U13 cricketManor Pr imary Schoo l triumphed in the Gings Reddy-sponsored Ilembe Primary Schools Cricket Under-13 final after beating KwaDukuza Primary in an exciting final played at the Country Club Ground on Thursday.

KwaDukuza Primary School beat North Coast Primary by 5-wickets to book their place in the final and Manor Primary showed Mandeni Academy scant respect af ter wal loping Mandeni Academy by 6-wickets with five overs to spare.

KwaDukuza Primary, who won the Under-13 League title last year and beat Manor Primary in the round-robin stages of the competition in Pool A last term were in high spirits and were confident of retaining the title. Manor Primary, unfortunately c a m e i n t o t h e g a m e a s “underdogs”, but sent their rivals licking their wounds after slumping to a nail-biting one wicket defeat.

The decision by Manor Primary to field first after winning the toss paid rich dividends after dismissing

Local Karate Students feature at Invitational Karate Championship

The Association of Shotokan Karate Do South Africa (ASKDSA) hosted their All styles Friendly Karate Championship recently at the Tongaat Sports Centre. Three of our local karateka, Redavia Raghubeer, Denisha Naidoo and Kerissa Naidoo, who are students at Shotokan Kokusai Karatedo SA - Stanger branch, participated in the competition. These three young ladies are very diligent karate students, who are committed to their sport and training.

Denisha Naidoo gave an excellent account of herself as she participated in her kata division and scooped Bronze as Kerissa Naidoo dwarfed her competition in Kumite and achieved the Gold Podium position. Redavia Raghubeer who easily secured Gold medals in both kata and Kumite, was praised as the Champion in her division.

Sensei Sherwin Hooblal, instructor of the SKKSA Stanger Dojo would like to thank the parents and karateka for their support toward the sport and he is committed to continuous development throughout 2016. “The club is producing quality athletes since inception, hard work, determination and a strong work ethic is what matters, Congratulations to my karateka on a sterling performance ”. Randsons now find themselves at the summit of the league with 6 points. Mark Padiachi was his normal vocal self, keeping the team spirit going amongst the Randsons' players. Inspirational skipper, Sandhir 'Tin Boy' Jugmohan once again led from front with dynamic attacks and he was well supported

Essack found his form once again with a superior a l l round performance. Randsons went on to win 25-21, 25-15.

Meanwhile Manor stunned the youthful Warriors Sport 25-18, 25-22 in the other fixture played. In the Natdale Insulations Division I league, Darnall United stunned Frendz with a fluent 25-13, 25-10 victory whilst Prestons went down 20-25, 25-20, 9-15 to Manor Old Boys.

KwaDukuza Primary for 51 runs in their allotted 16 overs. Shehzaad top scored for the hosts with 13 runs. Sadly, none of the other batsmen came to the party and couldn't put runs on the board due to a tight bowling spell by the visitors.

Ruchir Misra and Nceba Hoto were in prolific form with the ball claiming three wickets each and conceding 14 runs apiece. The target of 52 runs for victory looked simple on paper, but Manor threw away their wickets willy-nilly with the top four batsman back in the Manor camp with only 17 runs on the board.

KwaDukuza continued to put

pressure on the Manor middle-order and looked to have the game sewn in the 12th over with their rivals trailing at 45 runs for 9 wickets. With just the last two b a t s m e n a t t h e c r e a s e , KwaDukuza started to become more vocal with premature celebrations. But, who could blame the youngsters-having toiled in the sun and needing just one more scalp which looked a mere formality.

Sadly, none of the three KwaDukuza Primary coaches who were present at the Country Club Ground could advise their charges that “the game is only over when the fat lady sings”.

Needing just runs to win the game, Jameel Hoosen struck two brilliant fours to guide Manor to victory leaving the KwaDukuza Primary lads in a state of awe.

Head-coach of the Manor outfit, Isaac Abraham heaped praise upon his charges and thanked their Under-11 coach, Nathaniel Muniaha who was instrumental in spending many late hours after school to hone the skills of the Manor lads.

Abraham was indebted to financial advisor Gings Reddy for his generous sponsorship of a floating trophy, medals and a bat to each of the teams.
