Violence against women is a significant problem in the EU: one in three women had been victims of sexual and / or physical violence. Violence based violence is violence against women fundamental rights such as dignity, equality and access to justice and is one of the most widespread types of human rights violations.European Years are designed to encourage engaging in dialogue and debate within and between EU countries.
