In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? – Front cover

FRONT COVER - Looking at my front cover page It follows the conventions of a real music magazine – before making my magazine I did conventions of a front cover for a music magazine – one of them was NME – I really liked the layout of the NME style. I tried to make my music magazine similar to NME – e.g. using initials (RMH) – but however my front cover page was not too similar it had some differences.Doing my front cover page I followed conventions by using cover lines, range of different images, masthead, a colour scheme, different fonts and I also put in a linked website in the top right hand corner.

However there are many ways my front cover challenges conventions. Unlike NME that follows the backwards Z rule, my cover lines are aligned to the left hand side. I thought this ordered a structure and organised to my magazine. I thought this gave it a professional good.

• CONTENTS PAGE -Looking at contents page It follows the conventions of a real music magazine – before making my magazine I did conventions of a contents page for a music magazine, again this was a convention of an NME magazine – I really like the layout of NME so I followed that type of style however I tried to make my music magazine still different.

• Doing my contents page I followed conventions, quotations, numbers, boxed layouts, followed a colour scheme, text etc..

• Looking at the contents page there are many ways it challenges conventions, this is by adding a QR reader, a subscribe box, using columns and various different images

• DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD - Looking at my double page spread It follows the conventions of a real music magazine – before making my magazine I did conventions of a double page spread for a music magazine, again this was a convention of an NME magazine – I like the layout of NME so I followed that type of style however I tried to make my music magazine still different.

• Doing my double page spread I followed conventions, large image on one side of page, different images, small text, use of colour

• Looking at the double page spread there are many ways it challenges conventions, not making my image too large so it fills up almost two pages, making my text go around the image
