Abstract
Since the Ministry of Environment of Korea declared 2002 as the
year of sewer rehabilitation, many sewer projects such as sewer
rehabilitation project in Han river watershed, sewerage construction
project in upper reaches of multipurpose dams and BTL sewer
rehabilitation project have been launched to recover the sewer
efficiency and installl separate sewer system. However, there is a need
for provision of systematic standards in sewer rehabilitation work as
current sewer projeccts are carried out based on sewer repair
standards of Seoul city with some amendment. Therefore, two criteria
for feasibility and project priority decision of sewer rehabilitation are
suggested here in order to promote an effective sewer rehabilitation
projects. First method is grading sewers into 3 classes(A, B, C)
according to the urgency of rehabilitation, importance of the sewer and
amount of inflow due to damage, using the investigated data on interior
of sewer. Second is prioritizing the projects by conducting cost/effect
analysis to maximize the effect from invested projects. In addition,
criteria to determine the project scale and methods regarding sewers
with structural and functional problem are also suggested for sewer
and stormwater drainage in order to ensure reasonable rehabilitation
work based on investigation of original sewer.
