在春夏交接之际，球场在养护方面做了很多

努力，为了球场长期有个良好的状态，这是

必经之路，希望在这里能得到大家的谅解。

随着好天气的到来和球场草坪的状态回升，

期待可以在佘山看到各位打球的身影哦。在

您的高球体验上我们同样也做了很多改善，

包括增加了一些新的设施和设备（详见第 6

页和第 10页）。千万不要错过，快来教学

中心和球场上看看吧！

Dear Members, are you ready for summer? Because I certainly am! Lots of care and effort have been placed into maintaining the course during this seasonal transition and I hope you will understand that it is a necessary evil in order to keep the course healthy in the long run. Of course, with great weathers and course conditions, I will be expecting to see more of you at Sheshan. We’re always striving to improve your golfing experience with us; hence we’ve implemented several new technologies and gadgets (p.06, p.10). Course Maintenance Update

Dear Members and Guests, Fairway verticutting, aeration and overseeding is complete on the golf course and we should start to see the fairways improve in the coming week. We aerated and top-dressed a few of the greens that struggle during the summer such as 5, 6, and 2 but the rest of the greens continue to be in good condition. Currently both the winter rye grass and summer paspalum are growing but as temperatures continue to warm, the rye will fall dormant and the paspalum will take over. In order to help that process in the rough, we have started to cut it down lower. As it grows back, we will see more and more paspalum. We will aearate and top-dress the greens one more time on June 8th and once

they recover, we should be in a good position to make it through the summer smoother than previous years. All of the work that we have been doing is very essential and we thank you for your understanding and are confident that you will be pleased with the results once they are completed.

佘山高球学院在现有的高尔夫课程中引进 2 台有

The Sheshan Learning Centre has two interesting learning technologies available for use during golf lessons. The first is the Trackman radar launch monitor. This machine gives you information about your ball flight and golf club movement.

遗失球和球出界 Lost Balls & Out of Bounds

如果一名球员能够熟练的掌握规则, 那么他可以很

好利用规则的指导自己的打球行为并获得更好地杆

数。球出界和遗失球是很严厉的处罚行为并可以叠

加。所以在很多情况下保持球在使用状态比打更远

的距离更加有用。

Once a player understands the rules it can better guide them to make smarter decisions and lead to better scores. Out of Bounds and Lost Balls are very harsh penalties, and can add up. Keeping the ball in play is much more important than distance in many cases.

规则中关于球遗失或球出界的处理方式是一致的。处理方式可以称之为“一杆加距离”。本文中我将

为大家提供一个事例使您能在遇到这种情况时做出更正确地处理。如果您对本规则不是很确定，建

议您应及时查阅高尔夫规则或高球规则判例。判例中列举了各种可能存在的情况和正确的处理方

式，因此您也可以更容易的理解和处理。

The rules for both Lost Balls and the Out of Bounds golf rule are essentially the same. The penalty for either infraction is called Stoke and Distance. In this article I will provide a checklist that should help bring you closer to a correct ruling. If ever uncertain about a rule, one should first read the “Rules of Golf Book” or "Decisions Book”. The decisions book gives specific situation and the exact process, so is much easier to understand.

为保证正常的打球速度，如果一名球员对自己击出的球是否遗失或出界存有疑问，他应该及时击打

一个暂定球。在击打暂定球时，球员首先应及时通知同组比赛者。请记住界外由白桩或白线进行标

球就可以直接投入使用状态而成为使用中球。

In order to ensure that speed of play of your group is on track, if there is ever any question on a ball's final destination, a player should always hit a provisional ball. When hitting a provisional ball, a player must always announce to your fellow players of your intentions to do so. Remember that out of bounds is designated by white stakes or lines. Also balls lost within a water hazard are subject to different rules, which are usually more advantageous to the golfer. (Typically should be the same brand and type of ball marked to easily identify it is yours.)


If after a search, which has lasted no more than five minutes, your ball is deemed lost or out of bounds the player must return to the spot in which the ball was last played and may put a new ball into play. Hopefully this second ball has already been played as the provisional ball. The following is a play by play, on how this should be played when following the out of bounds golf rule. We will assume that the shot in question was made on the tee shot.

1st Stroke: My tee shot has sliced way right of the fairway and appeared to be rolling toward the parking lot, which is marked by white stakes as being Out of Bounds.

After searching for my ball I find that it has crossed the Out of Bounds markers and is lying in the parking lot. I now must return to the spot from which the ball was last played to put a new ball in play. This is considered the 2nd Stroke.

In my case I had previously announced my intentions and hit a provisional ball from the tee box, which has saved time on walking back. This now becomes the official ball in play or my 3rd Stroke.

My shot was hit Out of Bounds in one, back to the tee in two, the provisional was hit from the tee and put back into play in three.

As you can see, the out of bounds golf rules place a stiff penalty for leaving the boundaries of the course. You can also see why it's a good idea to always hit a provisional when the first shot is in question. The small bit of time it takes to hit a provisional is negligible compared to the time it takes to return to that spot after finding out that your first shot violated the out of bounds golf rule.

None of us can run as fast as an Olympic Runner or serve as fast as a champion tennis player but all of us, on occasion, make a birdie, just like Tiger Woods or Lydia Ko.

To celebrate birdies, our caddies have recently been giving out little butterflies to our members to showcase their triumphs. If a member plays really well, you will likely see him or her walking around with multiple butterflies on their hat or clothing. It’s an idea inspired by Nine Bridges Golf Club in South Korea and so far it has been very well received.

Also, we have added a small flag to the flagstick and that will let people know about the location of the pin for the day.

The small flag will have varied locations on the flagstick. The positions bottom of the flagstick, midway through the flagstick and on top of the flagstick corresponds to the green being near the front, halfway on the green, and further back on the green respectively.

Distance Markers 我们在球车道的一侧添加了彩色的

We have added coloured bricks to the cart paths marking distances from that spot to the centre of the green. The colours

match the yardage discs that are located in the centre of the fairway.

For the coloured bricks, 100 yards is red,150 is white, 200 is blue, and 250 yards is yellow.

2015 绝对高尔夫佘山挑战赛就获得了近 80 位会员及嘉宾报名参

赛，而此次比赛由 HUGO BOSS 中国和宝华韦健音响主赞助，卡

拉威高尔夫、美夏酒业联合赞助，也是《绝对高尔夫》连续第三

年和佘山高尔夫联合主办会员杯。

Sheshan has always been like a home, gathering members and friends around in a big family, everyone eager to participate and contribute to our events. This year’s 2015 Absolute Golf Sheshan Challenge was no exception to this enthusiasm, with close to 80 participating members and guests. On top of that, main sponsors HUGO BOSS and Bowers & Wilkins graced this event with co-sponsors Callaway Golf and Summer Gate Fine Wines & Spirits; expectations for the gala dinner’s prize presentation were raised indefinitely. This is also the third consecutive year that Absolute Golf collaborated with Sheshan in organizing this competition.

比赛中，我们收获的不仅是球技的比拼和提升。这次分组以各自差点为依据，让接近的选

手们同场竞技，互相切磋。

Everyone could use a challenge and friendly competition, that is why groups were decided based on each individual’s handicaps! This way, players can exchange tips and knowledge from others with similar golfing experience.

更有对“我们”二字友谊的理解。无论是已相识的老友，还是分组新认识的朋友，一场球下

来皆是欢喜不已。Not to mention the camaraderie forged on the course!


晚上的晚宴可谓是精彩纷呈，经过 4

个多小时的厮杀，本场比赛采取的是

个人定分赛的比赛规则，5 个大类 12

个奖项各有归属。邹文刚和唐静婷分

获最远距离和最近洞奖。 After 4 gruelling hours of intense golf showdown under the Individual Stableford ruling, each of the 12 awards in 5 categories were snagged by the cream of the crop. The Longest Drive and Nearest to Pin awards were won by Wen Gang Zou and Jing Ting Tang respectively.

赵坚获得男子组 B 组冠军、楼左生获得亚军、

谢少文获得季军。

Jian Zhao was crowned champion of Men’s B Division while Lou T.S Mayco came in a close first runner-up, with Billy Hsieh trailing slightly as second runner-up.

余耀来获得男子组 A 组冠军、吴绍锋获得亚

军、曹成获得季军。 E Yau Lai on the other hand topped Men’s A Division with Kenny Wu and Leo Cao coming in first-runner up and second-runner up respectively.


严善映获得女子组冠军、张艾雯获得亚军。

Shan Ying Yan outshone all others in Ladies’ Division and took home the Champions title while April Cheung strived for first-runner up.

吴所谓获得男子组 A 组最佳总杆、李可获得男子组 B 组最佳总杆。以上获专业类奖的选手

奖品皆由 HUGO BOSS 中国和宝华韦健音响提供的价值丰厚奖品，可谓是收获颇丰。 Kevin Wu showed us what it took to win Best Gross in Men’s A Division while Li Ke proved his worth by scoring himself Best Gross in Men’s B division. Proud sponsors HUGO BOSS and Bowers & Wilkins provided the awards and prizes, all of which is worth over tens of thousands!
