ANNIE YIANGOU
BABY BIRD MUSIC / CERDD CYW BACH
My name is Annie and I have been running my developmental music class Baby Bird Music/ Cerdd Cyw
Bach since 2005. I have a class for babies and one for children up to 5 years of age. The classes contain
seasonal Welsh and English songs and rhymes. The seasonal aspects of my sessions are probably the
unique selling point. I have written many songs to help teach the children about what is happening in
nature throughout the year and interesting facts about Welsh wildlife.
In addition, my classes follow the national curriculum and are designed to support all aspects of devel-
opment. In particular speech and language, listening, concentration, physical and social development.
I have a BA hons in education studies and have worked as a singer, in schools, care settings and as a
speech and language therapy assistant. I have used all of the skills and knowledge acquired from my
studies and work experience to create a class that is not only fun but educational and therapeutic.

Yn agored I ddechreuwyr yn ogystal â‘r rhai sydd â mwy o brofiad, mae’r dosbarthiadau yn
canolbwyntio ar y technegau traddodiadol o ddatbygu ac argraffu eich delweddau eich hun
yn defnyddio Ystafell Dywyll Ddu a Gwyn y Ganolfan. Er bod technolegau digidol wedi cael
dylanwad sylweddol ar gelf, mae llawer o artistiaid yn dal i weithio gyda phrosesau traddodi-
adol i gael yr ansawdd a’r boddhad a ddaw yn sgil cynhyrchu delweddau â’r llaw, un ar y tro
yn y modd hwn.
The work in this exhibition has been produced by members of the Arts Centre’s very pop-ular Black & White Photography classes and users of the open access darkroom facility.
Open to both beginners and those with more experience, the classes focus on the traditional
technique of developing and printing your own images using the Arts Centre’s Black & White
Darkroom. Although digital technologies have had a major influence on art, many artists continue
to work with traditional processes for the certain quality and satisfaction to be gained by hand
producing images, one at a time in this manner.

BILLY ADAMS: TRANSITIONS
Oriel Serameg | Ceramics Gallery
Ceramist Billy Adams’ work is held in numerous private collections around the word. He is a Fel-low of the Craft Potters Association.
His work deals with exploring and experimenting with aspects of landscape:
“The rock-like surfaces of my ceramic forms are alive with the vivid colours and nature and tex-tured to appear weathered and eroded. My main inspiration is the countryside and the standing stones of my native Ireland and West Wales. I would like to think that my work forms a material link to /with our elusive mystical ancestry.”
Billy Adams will give a talk and demonstration on Thursday 08th February 2-4.30pm. Meet in the Ceramics Gallery, Aberystwyth Arts Centre at 2.00pm, followed by the demonstration in the Ceramic Studio. FREE
WE'RE HERE BECAUSE WE'RE HERE
14-18 NOW and the National Theatre present an exhibition that tells the story of the contemporary memorial ‘We’re here because we’re here’ created by Jeremy Deller. The performance took place on 1 July 2016 when more than 1400 voluntary participants in First World War uniform appeared unexpectedly in locations across the UK. The participants were a reminder of the 19,240 men who were killed on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Each participant represented an individual soldier who was killed on that day. This exhibition tells the story of the project through images of the volunteers from across the UK and a BBC documentary charting the making of the project.

NT Connections Festival
Connections is the National Theatre’s annual festival of new plays for youth theatres and schools. It gives
young people experience of professional theatre-making. Their experience mirrors that of a company
producing a new play in any theatre in the country. They create marketing campaigns, design sets, and
costumes, operate lighting, and sound boards, stage manage their productions.
Each year, we are thrilled by the skill, creativity, commitment and passion that go into each production,
often on a shoestring budget and a rehearsal schedule carved out around school commitments.

good.
Crammed full of unforgettable characters, political left-hooks and razor-sharp comedy,
Teechers is more relevant today than ever, a modern classic with something vital to say
about education for the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.

Blood, Sweat and Tea Productions present a contemporary setting of Shakespeare’s clas-
sic revenge tragedy.
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, returns home to find his father dead and his mother remarry-
ing to his corrupt uncle, the new King. After a supernatural revelation, he is compelled to
avenge the murder of his father. However, the path to exacting his vengeance does not
run smooth… Using contemporary events in Trump’s America as a source of influence, this
accessible production brings the fairy-tale grandeur of Shakespeare’s vision into the 21st
Century, showcasing a state of corruption, fading glamour and family loyalty.
