Time waits for no man, apparently. And it certainly does not wait for an ever-busy arts venue. We’re W\[[PUN[OLÄUPZOPUN[V\JOLZto the programme for our 10th birthday celebrations, including the commission of ten original works. It’s HJOHUJL[VYLÅLJ[VU[OLhistorical, political and artistic context in which Rich Mix was conceived, as well as looking at where we are today. We are very excited, and hope you will join us in celebrating, whether `V\HYLHUVSKMYPLUKVYHÄYZ[time visitor.
Aside from planning our ten year events, we’ve got plenty of other gigs, performances, exhibitions and festivals fast approaching. Freedom Week involves a number of leading British Bangladeshi poets and musicians in a series of
specially curated events; La Linea Festival of Latin music is back for another year; the brilliant Tamasha Theatre present new work Taxi Tales; West End hit Hangmen comes to our screens with NT Live, and we’re taking part in A Nation’s Theatre festival with a performance from dance innovators Stopgap.
;OLÄYZ[L]LU[PUV\Y;LU@LHYcelebrations is opening night of Paul Trevor’s photographic exhibition, documenting memories and daily scenes of Bethnal Green and Brick Lane. Keep April 29th free – that’s our big birthday concert. We hope you will follow what’s happening (and join in) by using #RM10 on Twitter (@RichMixLondon). We would especially love it if you shared some of your memories from the last ten years – or let us
know what you’re looking forward to next!
And on the subject of looking forward, this is the last brochure I will have the privilege of adding my signature to as the Chief Executive of Rich Mix. After six years, it’s time to move on and I want to say thanks to all my )VHYKJVSSLHN\LZZ[HɈ[LHTartists, audiences, funders and friends. Without you all, it wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun – thanks for all your support, and here’s to the next stage in the life of Rich Mix.
Best wishes
Jane Earl, Chief Executive and Monique Deletant Bell, Interim Chief Operating 6ɉJLY
