54. Organa. George Organ arrived in 1839 on “Bussorah Merchant” with his

parents Elias Organ and Elizabeth Fisher, as well as – all were from Dursley Gloucestershire. They joined George’s brothers William and Thomas Organ who had arrived in 1835 with the 28th Regiment on the “Lady McNaughton”. The later 1837 voyage of this ship led to the first use of North Head as a Quarantine Station.

He was a son of Daniel Richard Parmenter – grandson of convict James Serjeant Parmenter of Lavenham, Suffolk who arrived on the “Lady Feversham” in 1830, of convict Mary Ann McAvoy of Dunshaugin Meath Ireland, who arrived on the Forth in 1830, of convict Samuel Ward of County Cork Ireland who arrived on the “Forth” in 1829. Daniel was also a great grandson of Daniel Clarke of Bristol Gloucestershire who arrived Free on the “Spring Grove” in 1809 and of convict Hannah Stanley of Deptford, Kent, who arrived on the “Canada” in 1810.

Frederick Woods was a teamster bullocky on Bulli Mountain, a son of Teresa Jane Ballentyne, of Scottish ancestry, and of John Woods whose father was convict Charles Henry Woods of Essex who arrived on the “Hashemy” in 1849 (Ship had a cholera outbreak on the 1849 voyage and was the subject of anti- convict transportation protests in the Colonies). John Woods’ mother was “Irish Famine Orphan Girl” Ann Sullivan Athlone County Westmeath Ireland who arrived in 1850 on the “Tippoo Saib”
