PERFORMANCE

Frith believes that by an artist showing themselves performing during a music video rather than

acting out a scene creates a feel of authenticity for the viewer.

By an artist doing a video where they are simply performing shows the fans

that they have real talent and they don't needs thrills and lot's of stuff

going on in the mise en scene in order to create really good music. Frith describes this as virtuosity.

The narrative is a way of the artist telling a story throughout the video. Frith says that the most popular narratives are love stories, this ranges

between all genres, not just more popular with one.

NARRATIVE

Unlike the other two which are more straight forward, conceptual videos are ones which offer other meanings to

the song, the artist may get you to think of it from another angle or it may just completely contradict the

lyrics. This is a more abstract piece.
