THE EA WOLVES VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM PLAYED AN AWESOME GAME - At the Tarkio Baseball Field on
Tuesday, April 19, 2016. The Wolves defeated South Nodaway with some great plays, including: a pickoff at rst thrown by

The East Atchison Wolves
Varsity Baseball Team and
Platte Valley exchanged the
lead seven times on Tues-day, April 19, 2016, but the
Wolves ended up on top with
a 4-3 win in eight innings in
Tarkio.
The top of the second saw
Platte Valley take an earlylead, 1-0, but it didn’t take
long for East Atchison to an-
swer as it scored one run of
its own in the second with a
solo home run by Gage Mc-
Adams. This was Gage’s rst
high school baseball home
run. The Wolves took the
lead for good after a strong
eighth inning. A sacrice y
by Connor Shaw scored Luis
Villagrana.
The Wolves had some
great plays during the game,
including a pickoff of the
rst base runner by pitcherBrody Cooper and rst base-
man Connor Shaw. Cooper
also elded a ball hit backat him and made a double
play out of it with the help of
second baseman McAdams
and rst baseman Shaw.
Hitter Dalton Sawyer also
managed to make his way
around the bases for a close,
but “safe” call at home plate,
scoring a run for the Wolves.
Pitcher Brody Cooper had
a fantastic game, going all
eight innings.

Following varsity ac-
tion, the Wolves JV Base-
ball Team lost 7-11 in ve
innings, despite outhitting
Platte Valley eight to four.
Tyler Brown went a per-
fect 3-3 at the plate for theWolves, hitting singles in
the rst, third, and fourth
innings. A three-run third
inning helped bring the
Wolves within four. A two-
run error, as well as an RBI
double by Shae DeRosier, set
off the Wolves’ rally. Three
runs in the bottom of the
fourth helped the Wolves
close the decit to 8-7 with a
two-run home run by Gage
McAdams and an RBI single
by Jayce Navin.

On Tuesday, April 19,
2016, the East Atchison
Wolves Boys’ Golf Team
hosted Mound City at the
Tarkio Golf Course. EA
struggled around the course
and was defeated 208-214.
Ben Shifet from Mound
City was the low score for
the day with a 43. EA was
led by Brendon Bruns with a
47. Colin Joesting shot a 52.
Jayton Johnson carded a 55
and Dayton Murry rounded
out scores with a 60.On Wednesday, April 20,
the golfers encountered wet
conditions at the Stanberry,
Missouri, Invitational meet.
Ten teams participated. The
Wolves struggled with the
wetness and nished 7th
overall as a team. Jayton
Johnson led the way with
a 91. He tied for 4th place
overall. Brendon Bruns shot
a 101 for the day.
On Thursday, April 21,
the EA golfers traveled to
Mound City to participate in
a quad meet against Mound
City, Mid-Buchanan, and
Rock Port. The EA team
showed vast improvement
and nished in 2nd place.
The team score of 203 placed
them ahead of both Mound
City and Rock Port. Mid-Buchanan won the meet.
Jayton Johnson led the way
with a 48. Brendon Bruns
shot a 51. Dayton Murry
also carded a 51. Keevan
Baker shot 53 and Daniel
Ripley managed a 62 in his
rst varsity action.
