BACK TO SCHOOL

Anatomy of a

Key Clubber

Back to School ALREADY? It's that time of year again! Lets strap on those back packs and get ourselves prepared for School. With the commencement of school, let's get back into the rhythm of our beloved Key Club. Start thinking of ways to reel in those freshman to the best thing that they have ever encountered. KEY CLUB!

Now, the only way to ensure success is to PLAN. Jumping into the school year with no idea of what you'll be doing is not the best idea. I suggest having a meeting before school starts. Plan out what fundraisers you will be doing, what service projects you will have, your meeting schedule and even when are the officer meetings. Above all, stay organized! I suggest having a key club calendar and binder or notebook!

Key Club Basics .

Know the Key Club Pledge? Make

it a regular part of your meetings!

I pledge on my honor to uphold the objects of key club

international, to build my home, school, and

community, to serve my nation and god, and to combat all forces which

undermine these institutions. The Key Club Chant is an

ESSENTIAL! I feel GOOD!

OH, I feel so good! Uh! Double it up! UH! UH!

Triple it up! UH! UH! UH! One long UH!

UHHHHHHHHHHHH! Rapper Style!

Uh, Uh, Uh, Uh, Uh! (with rapper rythm)

Dont forget to thrust!

Freshman Orientation!

Let's try to reel in new members!

1. Key Club info on Power Points, Tri-fold boards, or slide shows! Keep it fun, fresh, and attractive!

2. Be inviting, and friendly! Make the first move!

3. Hand out cards with when and where your first meeting will be! 4. Other great ideas are hug me signs, spirit gear, and candy!

What will attract people to your club?

Tips for a

FUN and SUCESSFUL year!

Have frequent officer meetings!

Delegate! Committees are great

ways to spread out responsibility!

Keep it FUN! Ice breakers BABY!

PLAN LIKE NO TOMORROW!

Fundraisers, service projects, etc!

Stay involved in the division!

Cherish and love your Kiwanians!

Keep them involved!

What is your favorite thing about key club? My favorite

thing about Key Club is meeting new people.

Describe your experience at Icon?

-My experience at ICON was simply, amazing. It was my first

time to the East Coast, and I cannot wait to go back for

ICON 2013 in Washington DC.

There was two parts of my ICON

experience, the first one was the

District Tour. It consisted of 45

amazing Key Clubbers that live on

Key Club blood. I got to roam

Disney World with them without

any adult supervision. I got to get

out of the crummy weather in

Washington and go wear a suit of

sunscreen because of the 100

degree weather. I got to meet all

of my favorite Disney characters growing up such as

Woody and Buzz from Toy Story! I got to buy a Harry

Potter wand from his castle at Universal Studios

Orlando. But really, there is not much to explain about

the tour without making you guys jealous! The secon d

part of my ICON experience was the Convention! The

meet and greet was alright, not as good as DCON,

but it was cool trading pins with people all over the

United States and the World. ICON is pretty much the

same thing as DCON, just in house of delegates we

voted for International Board. House of Delegates

went passed the scheduled end time and everything

was pushed back one hour, expect curfew sadly.

There are two dances at ICON, one is for The Eliminate

Project, and the other is a themed Dance. This year’s themed dance was 80's Neon Themed. I did not go, but

it was okay. Overall, ICON was an amazing experience. I recommend you all go to next year! I promise you

that you will return home with new friends, a lot of pins from different places, and great memories that will last

forever.

What’s Going On?

International and District!

“The Pacific Northwest

is the beginning, the

world is our goal”

– Past Kiwanis Governor; Frank

Morehouse

What’s KCCP?

KCCP was founded in 2010 by past

Governor Frank Morehouse. It was

inspired by a little girl named Penny,

who was diagnosed with a brain

tumor. She later lost her fight against

cancer. KCCP is in honor of Penny.

ATTENTION TO ALL PNW KEY CLUBEBRS!

KCCP is our DISTRICT

PROJECT! As the Pacific Northwest district,

let us join together to find a cure

for children’s cancer. There is no

end to this project until the cure

is found.

What can YOU do to help?

Make Trauma Dolls for cancer

patients

Fundraise, Fundraise, And

Fundraise!

Educate others on this needy

cause.

Volunteer your time!

Make activity books!

WHAT IF YOU COULD

SAVE A BABY’S LIFE? Maternal and neonatal tetanus

(MNT) kills one baby every nine

minutes — that's 60,000 babies

every year who will never grow up,

make their mothers laugh, play with

friends or dream about the future.

The effects of the disease are

excruciating — tiny newborns suffer

repeated, painful convulsions and

extreme sensitivity to light and

touch. A significant number of

women die from MNT each year

too.

EDUCATE Educate yourself about MNT, and share

what you learn with your club, your

community, your family and your school.

ADVOCATE Let the world know that the poorest, most

vulnerable babies and mothers need our

help. Rally others to get involved. Add a

link to www.TheEliminateProject.org on

your club website.

INVEST Be among the first to invest in this global

campaign for children. Make an initial gift

today.

ELIMINATE Over the next five years, the work you do

to eliminate MNT will change the world.

Together, Kiwanis and

UNICEF will eliminate MNT and give the

poorest families the chance to lead the

healthy lives they deserve.
