The Austin Diocese provides a Marriage Certificates for those couples
celebrating an anniversary of 10 years or more(5 year increments). For
those that have been married for over 60 years, you can receive one each
year. This is the Austin Diocese’s and Ascension Catholic Church’s way
of acknowledging your milestone and commemorating it with recogni-
tion and a certificate during the any of the weekend Masses. Please con-

GOSPEL MEDITATION
In today’s Gospel Jesus reminds us to love one another.
What does it mean to love one another? Prayerfully review
the Ten Commandments, notice that the first three are about
loving God and the last seven are about loving our neighbor.

enhance the religious education program to inspire your

your children to thank their religious education teachers
who volunteered their time and talents this year to share
their love and faith with your children.

2014-2015 SCHOLARSHIPS The Knights of Columbus Scholarship committee again had a tough choice
this year in selecting recipients/amounts from a total of five Ascension
parishioner applicants. The class rank of all applicants ranged from 4 of
238 to 33 of 245 and with near perfect grade point averages, quite impres-
sive! The applicants are required to complete an application which in-
cludes a 2 page essay on career, professional and educational goals, at least
one letter of recommendation from administrator, staff or teacher, one
letter from Ascension parish - Priest, Deacon, RE Director, resume, grades
etc. A total of $3000 were awarded this year for the K of C Scholar-
ships and an additional $500 from the KOCA Scholarship.
This year, with the 5 great applicants, the K of C was fortunate to have a
very successful fundraiser to increase the amount of the scholarship fund
and also KOCA decided to award one $500 scholarship so we worked with
them to piggy back on our process to also select one of the five candi-
dates. All KOCA members and Brother Knights should feel great about
their efforts to raise money for the scholarships through our K of C Re-
verse Raffle event and other fundraisers.
We also thank Father Ramiro, Ascension staff and all members of the par-
ish who supported our "Saturday Knight Live" Reverse Raffle Dinner in
March as your support greatly enables us to award these scholarships to the
youth of our parish! Congratulations to the recipients and may God with
them as they pursue the career goals!
