Man dies aftermob justice attackAman who spent the past seven monthsin hospital after being assaulted in an al-leged mob justice attack in Mbekweni,has died.Wandile Magama (25) from Wallace-

dene near Kraaifontein was admitted toGroote Schuur Hospital on 20 April afterhe was assaulted, allegedly by communi-tymembers ofNewDrommedaris,Mbek-weni, who believed that he was involvedin crime in the area.Hehad sustainedmultiple injuries and

hadsincebeentreatedinhospital.Hesuc-cumbed to his injuries at 01:45 on 2 No-vember.A case of murder is now being investi-

gated by the Mbekweni Police. Anyonewith information about the incident cancontact them on 021 868 9900.

Crime trends for OctoberThe Paarl West Community Policing Fo-rum (CPF) in partnershipwith the Paarl Po-lice would like to inform the public of thecrime trends as recorded for October.

) Residential burglaries:In the Northern Paarl, Groenvlei and Le-

moenkloof areas, the following streets weretargeted for residential burglaries: Alexan-der, Bethel, Carletta, Nicola, School, Opten-horst, Berlyn, Keurtjie, Prins, Bergpypie,Main Road and Coetzee Avenue.Most incidents were recorded onWednes-

days.There is no set time frame, however,most

incidents occurred during the day. One ar-rest was made.In the Southern area, Marais, Clift, Mark,

Bosman, Haarlem, Elba, Laborie, Chapelleand Protea Streets were targeted. Most inci-dents occurred on Tuesdays and Wednes-days between 15:00 and 17:00.Du Toit, Dorp, Fabriek, Karlsen Crescent,

Langenhoven, Bonaparte, Malherbe, Pas-torie, Marais and Klein Parys Road in theCBD, Klein Parys and Denneburg area, hadreports of residential burglaries.No specific day was targeted and the time

frames were between 06:00 and 18:00.In the farmingarea, residentialburglaries

occurred inVoorpaardeberg,Windmeul, BoDal, Swawelstert, Roggeland, Lustigan, Kli-prug, Wemmershoek and NieuwedriftRoads. One arrest was madeIncidentsoccurredmostlyonWednesdays

and Saturdays between 10:00 and 12:00 andbetween 14:00 and 16:00.

) Business burglaries:Business burglaries are matter of con-

cern. Incidents occurred in the Alkmaar,Voorschoten, Oosterland, Lady Grey, Vander Lingen, New, Jan van Riebeeck Drive,ArboretumRoad, Devine,MainRoad, Chap-elle, Gymnasiuim, Mill, Retief, Berlyn, Sta-tion, Cecilia and Hospital Street areas.Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays

were the most common days for these inci-dents. Four arrests have been made.In the farming area, business burglaries

occurred in Waterval, Vryguns, Klipvlei,Fraaigelegen, Swaelstert, Paardeberg, Den-neboom,SimondiumRoad,Nieuwedrift andMalmesbury Roads. The incidents occurredbetween 06:00 and 09:00 on Wednesdays andFridays.

) Theft out of/from motor vehicles:This also remains a concern of the Paarl

Police as is indicated every week.About 60 incidents were reported for the

month. Inmost cases, a windowwas brokento gain entrance to the vehicle.Although arrests were made, it does not

prevent such incidents. People are still neg-ligentand leavingvaluable items in theirve-hicles.

) Possession of stolen property:About 24 arrestsweremade for theposses-

sion of stolen property. It is vitally impor-tant that members of the public mark theirgoods and also report stolen goods.This often ensures that the suspect can be

linked to a burglary or theft case.) Reminder:TheCPFwillbeholding itsannualgeneral

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180°C. For the pap, place the water and salt in a pot and bring it up to a boil. Stir in the butter and then whisk in thepap. Turn the heat down, cover with a lid and cook it over very low heat for 15 minutes. Whisk twice during cooking to get rid of any

lumps. Stir in the corn and cook for a further 5 minutes. For the filling, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Gently sauté the onion for5 minutes until tender. Turn up the heat and add in the mushrooms. Fry for 3-4 minutes and then add the garlic and fry for another minute.

Stir in the chives and lightly season the mixture. To assemble the tert, place half of the pap at the bottom of a 15cm x 20cm ovenproofdish. Add the mushroom filling on top. Add a layer of biltong and then the crumbled feta. Pour over half of the cream and then the rest ofthe pap. Neaten the edges so that all of the filling is covered. Pour over the rest of the cream and then scatter the grated Gruyere on top.

Bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted. Scatter some fresh basil on top and serve.

Pap: 250 g Mushrooms, Sliced

750 ml (3 Cups) Warm Water 5 ml (1tsp) Garlic, Crushed

2,5 ml (½ Tsp) Fine Salt 15 ml (1tbsp) Chives

15 ml (1tbsp) Butter 180 g (1 Cup) Sliced Biltong

250 ml (1 Cup) Maize Meal 100 g (1 Cup) Feta, Crumbled

250 ml (1 Cup) Fresh Or Frozen 250 ml (1 Cup) Cream
