INDIVIDUAL ESSAY
What is definition of gangsterism? It takes from the word
gangster mean a
member of an organized group of criminals or a racketeer.
Gangsterism is common in a
developing nation such as Malaysia and we have heard a lot about
it occurring in
schools. It has been reported that in developed countries,
schoolchildren are
increasingly involved in gangs.
The common activities of gangsterism are vandalism, threatening
and burglary.
The example of vandalism is an activity such as clumsily
painting at walls and another
activity like non-moral writing. Many example of activity in
threatening such as extort
money from business and people or kidnap those who are wealthy
for ransom. The
examples of activities burglary like stealing precious things
and broke into a house.
Many factor that cause a person to become a gangster or involved
in
gangsterism. The main factor of gangsterism is lack of parental
guideline. In addition,they also lack of religious education.
Friends also influenced in gangsterism. For
example, they challenge to do something. Besides that, teenagers
always expose to
bad activities from mass-media such as television, radio,
internet, and so on. So, they
would follow all the bad influenced from there.
To curb gansterism activity, parents, school-society and
government at large
should be aware of what is going on among our youths. Though
there are various
psychological and physical factors that cause a person to choose
to become a gangmember, here are some basic suggestions for
parents/guardians to help nurture their
children with love and respect.

First way is parents should give more attention to their
children. They must keep
their children away from gambling dens and places those
gangsters frequent. In
addition, parents must be aware of changes in their children
whether its their behavior
or attitude. Furthermore, parents also should set a curfew for
their children so they dont
come home too late at night or in the wee hours of the morning.
Besides that, parents
should give religion education to their children. They should
provide their children with a
good spiritual and moral background. Do not allow their children
to visit discos, pub,
snooker and gaming centers. Then, parent can get advice from
psychiatrists.
Society-school also have a big responsible to curb any
ganterisms activity
among students. Disciplines teachers play the important role to
encourage the students
to get involved in extracurricular activities and sports at
school. So that, no students
could be labeled as passive students.
Third way is about government responsibility. All the school
should give
cooperation to the police to aware all the students that can be
considered as a
gangster. Law subject also should be introduce in school. So,
students can learn more
about law in our country.
As a conclusion, gangsterism did not bring good affect to
others. All of us must
seek solution to cure gangsterism. Parents play important role
to take initiative about
this serious problem because all learning start at home.
Educators and society also
should be aware of what is going on among our youths to having a
good quality
generation in the future.
