Stock Management

Storage Location

The storage location is the lowest

level of stock management in the

system. You can assign one orseveral physical storage locations

to each plant.

Samat Belgium (plant 3401) has

only one storage location :

0001

Magasin 0001.

Articles

An article is the smallest unit that can beordered or managed independently and that

cannot be split into smaller units.

The material master record contains the datarequired to manage an article.

Data of a descriptive nature (size, weight, unit

)

Data with a control function (article type,

valuation class )

Material Types

Material Types group together articles with

the same attributes. A material master

record (material number), is assigned to asingle material type, which determines:

Whether the article number can be assigned

internally by the system or externallyWhether the stocks are managed or not in SAP.

Material Types to be used

ZNST : Material Type for articles that

wont be managed in SAP neither in value

nor in quantity.

ZIBE : Material Type for articles that will

be managed on a quantity and a value bases.

Valuation Class

The valuation class has the followingfunctions:

Determines together with other factors the G/L

accounts updated for a valuation-relevanttransaction (such as a goods movement).

Allows the stock values of materials of the

same material type to be posted to different

G/L accounts.

Goods movement

Document principle : At least 2 documentsare generated and recorded in SAP for every

transaction/event that causes a change in

stock :The material document which is the source for

any subsequent document, and the proof of the

movement.

The accounting document is created parallel to

the material document because the movement is

relevant for financial accounting.

Movement Type

When you enter a goods movement in the system,you must enter a movement type (three-digit

identification key) to differentiate between the

various goods movements, such as :
