This is the 300th issue of Sameway. My original intention was to write an editorial about my reflection over the eight years on this publication. Now I decide to make a call to all readers about the story of Gary.

Three months ago we had two special reports on the subject of bone marrow transplant. This was something new to many people and many would not have known how to become a bone marrow donor and that the transplant would not be harmful but rather very meaningful. To Gary, as covered by our People Issue, the transplant would be a matter of life and death.

At an age of 17, Gary is looking forward to a plentiful life full of opportunities ahead of him. At that age, I was having a life filled with faith and hope; and I trust Gary would be feeling the same just two months ago. Just been diagnosed with acute leukaemia, the only chance for him to survive on is by bone marrow transplant.

Being an Asian with a blood group of AB, it would be extremely hard for Gary to find a suitable donor in Australia. But if more Chinese can participate in the transplant scheme, Gary could stand for a better chance.

Actually there are many other people in the same situation of Gary. Would we be willing to offer them the help which we could afford? If you are aged between 17-45, you could become a donor. Please read about Gary s story and hope that you could be the angel extending the dream life of Gary by walking alongside with him and his family.
